As of February 2024, applicants to immigrate to Ontario through the OINP provincial nomination program are required to fill out a consent form!

According to the information published on the cimmigrationnews website, from now on, people who intend to immigrate to Canada through the Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (OINP) must complete an Application Consent Form. There will be no need to complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) form on the site. The Provincial Expression of Interest (EOI) system has announced that as of February 26, 2024, all new applications for the OINP Provincial Nominee Program must include a Consent Form with the following features:

1. To be completed correctly.
2. Its date is correct.
3. To be signed by the applicant.
4. If necessary, it should be signed by the applicant’s spouse and dependents.
5. To be uploaded on the EOI site with other documents (such as language documents, financial capacity, etc.).

According to the latest announcement from OINP, if the required form is not completed correctly, the applicant’s application will be considered incomplete and returned to him. Also, the application fee will be refunded. Representatives chosen by the applicant, including immigration attorneys, are not authorized to sign this form. Therefore, after receiving the invitation letter (ITA), applicants should fill and upload this form on the EOI site.

Ontario Immigration advises all new applicants to carefully review the program’s document requirements checklist to ensure that they provide and submit all required documents to the province.

Also, the province of Ontario has announced in 2024 that it will henceforth accept the Test of English (PTE) as proof of English proficiency in all OINP programs that require proof of English proficiency.

Ontario Immigration reminds you: If you have registered on the EOI site and have not yet received an ITA, you may want to update your information on the site and upload your PTE English test score along with the consent form.

Also, applicants can submit their applications under the Express Entry program. In this system, immigrants can apply for permanent residence online. Their characteristics are then compared based on a scoring system called the Comprehensive Rating System (CRS). People with the highest scores in this system are considered to receive an invitation letter (ITA) and eventually permanent residence.

Those who receive an invitation must promptly submit a complete application and pay the processing fees within 60 days. People who receive a provincial or territorial nomination can apply for Canadian permanent residence through Canadian immigration authorities.
